The ball was jumping off the bats of the Buckman Billygoats on Sunday at Trobec Memorial Field as the bashed 8 Home Runs and 20 overall hits in an 18-12 win over the St. Stephen Steves. Andrew Rueckert and Jack Suska went deep twice and the Goats also got bombs from Ben Thoma, Matt Kummet, Noah Boser and Travis Kahl.
This really was a tale of 2 halves to this game as the Steves held a 10-5 lead after 5 innings, but then the Billygoats outscored the Steves 13-2 over the final 4 innings to surge to the win.
The starting pitchers in this one were Jack Greenlun for the Steves and Rylan Robinson for the Billygoats, and safe to say neither guy went deep into the game.

In the bottom of the 1st, Cole Fuecker walked with 1 out aganst Rylan Robinson, and then stole 2nd. Mat Meyer drilled a single to left to score Fuecker and make it 1-0. Buckman got things going in the top of the 4th when Matt Kummet walked with 1 out against Matthew Young, then Andrew Rueckert singled to center. Jack Suska then ripped a 3-run Homer to right and just like that, Buckman was ahead 5-1 before Young got the final 2 outs of the inning on a Travis Kahl pop out and a Rylan Robinson pop up to 1st baseman Mat Meyer.
The Steves came out slugging in the bottom of the 4th when Jack Greenlun greeted Rylan Robinson with a lead-off Homer to left to make it 5-2. Kellan Graning then singled to left and Joe Tuholsky sent a double to left and the Steves had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Rylan Robinson got Matthew Young to line out to right fielder Travis Kahl for the 1st out, then Landon Lunser reached on an infield error to load the bases with 1 out. Brody Sabin drove in Graning and Tuholsky with a 2-run single to left to pull the Steves to within 5-4. That hit by Sabin ended the day on the mound for Rylan Robinson, as the Billygoats turned to Kenny Morris. Charlie Kent drilled an rbi double to right to score Lunser and tie the game at 5-5. Cole Fuecker then flew out to center for the 2nd out, but the Steves weren’t quite done yet. They utilized Carter Kent as a pinch runner for Sabin at 3rd and Mat Meyer then gave the Steves the lead with a sharp 2-run single to center to score both of the Kent boys and make it 7-5 in favor of St. Stephen. Jack Greenlun then walked and the Steves put in Brody Wolhart to pinch-run for Mat Meyer at 2nd. Kellan Graning kept the attack going with a single to right field, bringing home Wolhart to make it 8-5. That hit by Graning prompted another Buckman pitching change as it was now Matt Tautges’s turn. Joe Tuholsky ripped an rbi single to center to score Jack Greenlun with the 8th run of the inning as the Steves were now up 9-5 before Tautges finally got the final out of the inning with a strikeout of Matthew Young.

In the bottom of the 6th, Kellan Graning led off with a double to center, but Matt Tautges then struck out Joe Tuholsky, got Matthew Young to pop up to shortstop Lane Girtz and Landon Lunser then lined back to Tautges to send the game to the 7th with the Steves still ahead 10-8.
In the top of the 7th, the Steves brought in their 4th pitcher of the day as Carter Ramsey took the hill to face the Billygoats. Lane Girtz led off with a single to center, followed by a double to center off the bat of Noah Boser and the Goats had the tying run in scoring position with no outs. Ramsey then walked Ben Thoma and Buckman had the bases loaded. Ramsey then hit Matt Kuimmet with a pitch to force in Girtz and make it a 10-9 game. Buckman then put Eric Buffington into the game as a pich-runner for Matt Kummet at 1st base. Up stepped Andrew Rueckert, who proceeded to crush a Grand Slam Homer to right field and the Billygoats were now ahead 13-10. That meant it was time for the 5th Steves pitcher of the day as this time, it was Cole Fuecker taking the ball. Fuecker quickly settled things down, getting both Jack Suska and Travis Kahl to fly out before striking out Rylan Robinson to end the inning.
In the bottom of the 7th, Matt Tautges struck out Brody Sabin , but then gave up a single to Charlie Kent. Buckman got a lead-off single from Matt Tautges in the top of the 9th and Tautges was replaced by pinch-runner Andy Winscher at 1st. Lane Girtz flew out to center, then Noah Boser dropped a single into left to advance Winscher to 2nd. Ben Thoma lined out to left for the 2nd out before Matt Kummet singled to load the bases with 2 outs. Andrew Rueckert, already with 2 Hr’s and 6 rbi’s in the game, now had the chance to have an absolutely monstrous game as he came to the plate in another bases-loaded situation. But Rueckert ended up flying out to center fielder Cole Fuecker to end the inning.
Holding an 18-12 lead, the Billygoats turned the ball over to Andy Winscher to pitch the 9th.
