Matt Tautges struck out a season-high 12 and allowed just 2 hits as the Buckman Billygoats posted their 11th straight win with an 11-1 victory in 7 innings at Avon on Friday night.
The Billygoats scored all of their runs in the first 3 innings Matt Tautges led off the game with a single to center, was wild pitched to 2nd and then scored on a2-out rbi double from Ben Thoma down the left field line to make it 1-0. Matt Kummet followed that up to give Buckman a 2-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the 1st, Avon’s Ryan Janzen led off with a single and stole 2nd, but Matt Tautges got a pair of strikeouts and a fly out to centerfielder Andrew Rueckert to strand Janzen at 2nd to end the 1st.
Buckman sent 12 men to the plate in the top of the 2nd, scoring 6 times to go ahead 8-0. Lukas Otte was hit by a Drew Lieser pitch with 1 out, followed by a walk to Matt Tautges. Noah Boser hit a ground-rule double to left to drive in Otte to make it 3-0, then Ben Thoma drove a Lieser pitch over the fence in left for a 3-run Homer to give Buckman a 6-0 lead. Matt Kummet then singled and Drew Lieser walked Andrew Rueckert. That ended the night on the mound for Lieser, who was relieved by Jackson Henderson. Henderson then issued 3 straight walks, including back-to-back bases-loaded walks to Braxton Tautges and Lukas Otte to force in 2 more runs and make it 8-0.
The Billygoats added their finanl 3 runs in the top of the 3rd on an rbi gorundout from Andrew Rueckert and 3 Avon errors in the inning left Buckman up 11-0 going to the bottom of the 3rd.
Avon got their lone run in the bottom of the 4th when Elliott Burnett reached 2nd on an outfield error to open the inning. Burnett came in to score on a ground ball from Reese Gregory to make it 11-1.
Avon managed their 2nd and final hit off Matt Tautges when Charlie Dolan led off the bottom of the 6th with a pinch-hit single.
Elliott Burnett did a fine job in relief for the Lakers, shutting out Buckman over the final 4.2 innings and allowing just 2 hits.
