The Buckman Billygoats got a 2-run Homer from Lane Girtz in the top of the 1st and never trailed as they edged the Avon Lakers 4-3 at Blattner Field in Avon on Saturday. Matt Tautges led off the game with a single, the Girtz connected for his 2-run shot. Avon made it 2-1 in the bottom of the 2nd when Buckman starter Rylan Robinson ran into a bit of a control issue, giving up a single to Reese Gregory and then 3 walks, with the final one to Carter Holthau with the bases loaded to make it 2-1 after 2. Matt Tautges delivered an rbi single in the 5th to score Travis Kahl and make it 3-1. In the top if the 8th, Jack Suska led off with a single, followed by an Andrew Rueckert infield single. Reese Young then singled with 1 out to drive in Suska and make it 4-1. In the bottom of the 8th, got a 2-out walk to Cole Wellmann and a single from Jack Theisen. Matt Tautges then came on to relieve and walked Elliot Allen to load the bases. Nathan Sand the laced a 2-run single to make it 4-3 before Tautges got a strikeout to end the inning. In the bottom of the 9th, Avon got a man on base with 2 outs thanks to an error, but a ground out to 3rd ended the game with Buckman holding on for the 4-3 win.
