The Clear Lake Lakers built a 11-2 lead over Royalton going to the bottom of the 6th, only to see the Riverdogs score 6 in the 6th, then 2 in the 7th to make it an 11-10 score. Royalton loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 9th but couldn’t score as the Lakers held on for the 11-10 win on Sunday.
Clear Lake got on the board in the top of the 1st on a BLake Brown rbi single.
In the top of the 3rd, the Lakers got 3 straight 1-out singles to load the bases, then a Blake Brown single to center made it 2-0 and then an Riverdogs error allowed another 2 runs to score to make it 4-0.
Caleb Leintz added a 4th inning rbi single to put the Lakers ahead 5-0.
Royalton then broke through in the bottom of the 4th with a 2-run single from Grayson Suska to make it 5-2 after 4 innings.
Clear Lake then scored 5 times in the top of the 5th on a Matthew Primus rbi single, a pair of run-scoring wild pitches, a bases loaded walk to Caleb Leintz and a sacrifice fly by Matt Korte to make it 10-2.
Owen Kolbinger took a bases loaded walk in the top of the 6th to make it an 11-2 lead for Clear Lake.
In the bottom of the 6th, the Riverdogs took 4 straight walks from Lakers lefty John Brew, the 4th one to Tyler Jendro forced in a run to make it 11-3. Joey Gaida then drove in a run with a ground out and it was 11-4. After Spencer Friese was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Ethan Albright’s grounder was misplayed for an error, scoring another run. Another bases loaded walk, this one to Keaton Nelson made it 11-6. A wild pitch then scored Spencer Friese and then another Lakers error allowed Ethan Albright to score and it was 11-8 before the Lakers got out of the inning.
In the bottom of the 7th, Royalton scored again when Tyler Jendro doubled, and Joey Gaida singled. A 1-out single by Ethan Albright loaded the bases. Keaton Nelson then delivered an rbi single to score Tyler Jendro and make it 11-9. A sacrifice fly from Kirk Yourczek brought home Guida and it was now 11-10.
In the bottom of the 8th, Drew Yourczek singled with 1 out and went to 2nd on an error. Yourczek then went to 3rd on a ground out by Tyler Jendro. A walk to Joey Guida and Spencer Friese getting hit by a pitch loaded the bases for the Riverdogs but an infield pop out ended the inning and kept Clear Lake ahead by 1, 11-10.
In the bottom of the 9th, Keaton Nelson led off with a walk, and was pinch-run for by Joh Bzdok. Kirk Yourczek followed with a single as Bzdok went to 3rd and Yourczek took 2nd on the throw. Royalton now had the tying run at 3rd and the winning run at 2nd with no outs. Ryan Snyder walked and the bases were loaded. Grayson Suska then hit a ball back to pitcher Blake Brown, who threw home for a force at the plate with Cekalla then thrown out at 1st and there were 2 outs. Blake Brown got the final out when Drew Yourczek fouled out to 3rd baseman Owen Kolbinger to end the game with the Lakers holding on for the 11-10 win.
