The Opole Bears rolled past the Freeport Black Sox 10-0 in 7 innings on Friday night at Black Sox Park.
Opole got on the board in the top of the 1st with a pair of 1-out walks to Brodi Huls and Drew Lange. As Huls stole 3rd, he came home to score on a throwing error to give Opole a 1-0 lead.
Mason Toutges doubled with 2 outs in the bottom of the 1st off Bears starter Sam Butler, but the veteran righty got a groundout to shortstop Brodi Huls to strand Toutges at 2nd.
In the top of the 3rd, Masyn Patrick led off with a single against Black Sox starter Jadin Norby, and after stealing 2nd, a Drew Lange rbi double plated Patrick to make it 2-0.
In the top of the 5th, both Masyn Patrick and Brodi Huls walked. An error put Patrick at 3rd, where he was brought in by a sacrifice fly from Drew Lange to make it 3-0. After Keaton Gustin was hit by a pitch, a Freeport error allowed Huls to score and moved Gustin to 3rd. A sacrifice fly from Alex Lange brought in Gustin to make it 5-0.
In the top of the 6th, Jordan Schmitz walked with 1 out, followed by Tate Lange getting hit by a pitch. Masyn Patrick then doubled to right to score Schmitz and send Tate Lange to 3rd in a 6-0 game. 1 out later, a ball hit by Drew Lange was misplayed for an error and both Lange and Patrick scored to give the Bears an 8-0 lead.
Alex Lange led off the top of the 7th with a single to right, and after a ground out advanced Lange to 2nd with 1 out, a Luke Bieniek rbi single made it 9-0. After strikeout for the 2nd out, Bieniek stole 2nd and then scored on a Tate Lange rbi single to center to put Opole up 10-0.
After Sam Butler had blanked the Black Sox on 3 hits for 6 innings, the Bears turned things over to Isaiah Folsom. He worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the7th to end the game by way of 10-run rule.
