The Pierz Brewers got a combined 4-hit shutout from starter Jonah Prokott and reliever Pete Schommer in a 6-0 shutout of the visiting Freeport Black Sox on Sunday.
The Brewers struck for 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st on back-to-back 2-out singles from Preston Veith and Phil Zynda, followed by a run scoring hit from Derek Dahmen.
The Brewers made it 4-0 in the 3rd when Gunnar Wicklund reached on an error, went to 2nd on a ground out and 3rd on a single by Preston Veith. Phil Zynda then singled to score Wicklund and Derek Dahmen later added a sacrifice fly to plate Veith to make it 4-0 after 3 innings.
An inning later, Phil Zynda walked with 1 out, followed by a single from Derek Dahmen. Michael Nezerka then drove in Zynda with an rbi single to make it 5-0 and after Ryan Stuckmayer added the Brewers 3rd hit of the inning, a sacrifice fly by Mike Leidenfrost allowed Derek Dahmen to tag up and score to make it 6-0.
Jonah Prokott allowed 4 hits in his 6 innings of work, including a 1st inning double by Matt Johnson. Pete Schommer came on and threw 3 perfect innings in relief, retiring all 9 men he faced. Freeport never got a runner to 3rd base in the game.
