After winning 5-2 in 10 innings on Saturday at Fort Ripley, the Pierz Lakers used a pair of 4-run inning to win again on the road on Sunday, this time posting an 11-3 win at St. Stephen.
After a scoreless first 2 innings, the Lakers scored the games 1st run in the top of the 3rd on a 2-out rbi single by Carter Petron to go ahead 1-0. After a walk to David Kroger, Brady Petron doubled to left, scoring both Carter Petron and David Kroger to make it 3-0. The Lakers weren’t done scoring just yet. Kolten Happke singled to center to score Brady Petron and it was 4-0.
In the top of the 4th, the Lakers struck again as Carter Petron added an rbi single to make it 5-0 and Brady Petron later walked with the bases loaded to force in another run and it was 6-0.
In the top of the 6th, Pierz loaded the bases with 1 out on a Noah Cekalla single, Carter Petron was hit by a pitch and David Kroger walked. Noah Cekalla then scored on a wild pitch to push the Lakers lead to 7-0.
St. Stephen broke up the shutout in the bottom of the 6th on walks to Landon Lunser and Zack Fuecker and then a 2-run double off the bat of Cole Fuecker to make it 7-2.
In the top of the 7th, the Lakers loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a single by Preston Rocheleau. After a fly out to center, Carter Petron laced a bases-clearing triple to make it 10-2. Mason Athman came in to pinch-run for Carter Petron and scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-2.
The Steves got their final run in the bottom of the 8th on a 2-out solo Homer from Cole Fuecker to make it 11-3. Reliever Ryan Chmielewski then retired the Steves in order in the bottom of the 9th to finish off the Lakers 11-3 win.
