Jake Kapphahn fired 6 innings of 2-hit shutout baseball for Sobieski before turning things over to Dusty Parker for the final 3 innings, with Parker allowing just 1 hit in that time as the Skis blanked the visiting Fort Ripley Rebels 4-0 on Sunday. The two hurlers combined for 10 strikeouts.
The Skis got on the board in the bottom of the 1st when Beau Thoma led off with a single but was forced out at 2nd on an attempted sacrifice bunt by Matt Filippi. Rebels starter Mason Argir then struck out Collin Kray for the 2nd out before Jake Kapphahn walked. Dusty Parker then singled to left to drive in Matt Filippi to make it 1-0.
Sobieski scored again in the bottom of the 3rd when Beau Thoma led off with a line drive single. After Matt Filippi bunted into the air for a pop up to 3rd, Thoma stole 2nd. Collin Kray then drove in Thoma with an rbi single to right to make it 2-0. After a pop out, both Dusty Parker and Collin Eckman singled to load the bases, Mason Argir got Riley Czech on strikes to keep it a 2-0 game after 3 innings.
In the 4th, the Skis added another run when Owen Bode singled and stole 2nd. Bode then swiped 3rd as well, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Beau Thoma to make it 3-0.
Sobieski put their final run on the board in the bottom of the 6th when Riley Czech connected for 1-out solo Homer to left to make it 4-0.
Fort Ripley got their first hit of the game from Bill Sather with a 4th inning single, but he was then erased on an inning-ending double play. Jack Schafer singled with 1 out in the 5th and Mason Argir singled with 1 out in the 8th. The Rebels advanced just 1 runner to 3rd base in the game as Josh Hukriede walked, was sacrificed to 2nd and went to 3rd on a ground out but was stranded in the 3rd inning.
