With the game tied at 2-2 after 9 innings, the Sobieski Skis plated 2 runs in the top of the 10 to go up 4-2, only to see Fort Ripley score 1 and leave the potential tying run at 2nd to end the game as the Skis win 4-3 on the road in 10 innings.
Sobieski started the game with a 1-out single from Matt Filippi and a walk to Collin Kray, but Rebels starter Tyler Gruye avoided any damage with a strikeout of Jake Kapphahn and a Dusty Parker line drive to left.
The Rebels first scoring chance developed in the bottom of the 2nd when Cooper Schenck singled and and Riley DeRosier walked to start the inning against Skis starter Beau Thoma. But Thoma then got 2 strikeouts of Josh Hukriede and Nick Jelacie before Brett Kramer lined out to left.
Neither team seriously threatened through 5 innings as the game remained scoreless.
In the bottom of the 6th, the Rebels got on the board when consecutive 1-out singles from Eli Roberts, Cooper Schenck and Riley DeRosier loaded the bases with no outs. Josh Hukriede hit into a fielders choice with Roberts forced out at home for the 2nd out. Nick Jelacie broke the ice with an rbi single to left, scoring Schenck to make it 1-0 after 6 innings.
After a scoreless 7th inning, Sobieski took the lead with a 2-run 8th. Beau Thoma reached on an error, then was sacrificed to 2nd by Matt Filippi. Collin Kray then lined to right for the 2nd out. Jake Kapphahn then tied things up with an rbi double to score Thoma and it was 1-1. Dusty Parker then put the ball in play, and a Rebels error allowed Kapphahn to race home with the go-ahead run, making it 2-1.
Fort Ripley tied it back up in the bottom of the 8th on a lead-off single by Cooper Schenck. Schenck was replaced as a runner by Eli Sundquist. He moved to 2nd on a ground out, then Josh Hukriede was walked and Nick Jelacie was hit by a pitch to fill the bases. Sundquist scored on a sacrifice fly by Alex Haapajoki to make it 2-2 headed to the 9th.
The Skies went down in order in the top of the 9th, while the Rebels threatened to end it in the bottom of the 9th when Eli Roberts singled with 2 outs, and went to 3rd on a single by Cooper Schenck. With the winning run at 3rd and 2 outs, reliever Riley Czech got Riley DeRosier to pop up to 2nd baseman Collin Eckman to end the inning.
In the top of the 10th, The Rebels Jack Schaefer walked both Beau Thoma and Matt Filippi to open the inning. Thoma then swiped 3rd and the Rebels brought in Adam Jensen to pitch. After Filippi stole 2nd, the Rebels intentionally walked Collin Kray to load the bases. Jensen then struck out Jake Kapphahn. A fielders choice grounder from Dusty Parker allowed not only Thoma to score, but Filippi as well and Sobieski led 4-2.
In the bottom of the 10th, Dusty Parker took over on the mound for the Skis. Josh Hukriede was hit by a pitch, as was Nick Jelacie. After an Eli Roberts single, Cooper Schenck singled to score Hukriede to make it 4-3. Parker got Alex Haapajoki to line out to center fielder Owen Bode, then Adam Jensen grounded out. Parker ended the game with a strikeout of Isaac Hanson to save the Skis 4-3 win.
