The St. Mathias Devils scored in every inning except the 6th as they topped the Pierz Bulldogs 10-0 in 7 innings at Hellie Field on Sunday.
Bryce Flanagan, acquired from the Fort Ripley Rebels during the off-season, made his Devils debut a very positive one with a 1st inning rbi single to drive in another former Rebel, Josh Kossan, with the games 1st run.
In the top of the 2nd, St. Mathias made it 2-0 when Nate Eschenbacher was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Bulldogs error.
The Devils then posted a 3-run 3rd inning when Alex Guggisberg doubled and scored on another rbi single from Bryce Flanagan to make it 3-0. The Devils would then load the bases and Flanagan would score on a bases loaded walk and Luke Zontelli would score on a Kyle Welle sacrifice fly to make it 5-0.
In the 4th, it was a Luke Zontelli rbi double that made it 6-0 for the Devils.
In the top of the 5th, a 2-out triple by Josh Kossan opened up a 2-run inning. Hunter Wicklund followed the Kossan triple with a walk and then both scored on an error to make it 8-0.
The Devils made it 10-0 in the top of the 7th when Kyle Welle led off with a walk, followed by a Hunter Wicklund 1-out single. A Bulldogs error allowed Welle to score and then Bryce Flanagan drove in his 3rd run of the game with a sacrifice fly to bring home Wicklund and make it 10-0.
The Bulldogs got their first hit of the game from Brayden Haberman in the 3rd to become the first Pierz base runner. Teddy Dehler doubled with 2 outs in the 5th and Cooper Grashorn singled in the 6th for the only 3 Pierz hits off Devils pitchers Alex Guggisberg and Connor Knettel.
