Austin Dickmann pitched into the 9th inning before Chase Lyon came on and got the final 2 outs to preserve the St. Wendel Saints 3-2 win over the Opole Bears on Sunday.
It took until the top of the 5th for somebody to score in this game when the Saints scored twice, with the first scoring on a stealof home by Carter Voss and the 2n run coming on an rbi single by Austin Dickmann to make it 2-0.
In the top of the 6th, St. Wendel got an rbi single from Cohen Habban to go ahead 3-0.
Austin Dickmann lost his bid for a shutout in the bottom of the 8th when Will Eichten scored on an error and Tate Lange singled to drive in Alex Lange to make it 3-2.
In the bottom of the 9th, Masyn Patrick led off with a single for the Bears, then was sacrificed to 2nd by Brodi Huls. The Saints then brought in Chase Lyon to try and get the final 2 outs with the tying run at 2nd. Lyon got Luke Bieniek to foul out to 1st for the 2nd out, then issued a walk to Keaton Gustin to put the potential winning run on base. But Lyon got Mavrick Novitski to ground out to 2nd baseman Carter Voss to end the game and preserve the Saints 3-2 win.
