The Avon Lakers scored all the runs they’d need in the top of the 1st as they pushed across 4 runs on their way to an 11-1 win over the Fort Ripley Rebels on Sunday.
The Lakers started the game by loading the baseson a Ryan Janzen single, a walk to Elliott Burnett and a Caleb Curry single. Reese Gregory then ripped a 2-run double to left to put Avon up 2-0. 1 out later, Caleb Curry scored on a wild pitch and Jack Theisen doubled to drive in Gregory and it was 4-0.
In the top of the 6th, Avon got a lead-off Homer from Kadyn Mork to go ahead 5-0. Elliott Burnett added a 2-run triple later in the inning to increase Avon’s lead to 7-0.
In the top of the 8th, it was Elliott Burnett again, this time with an rbi single to make it 8-0, then an Abe Kalthoff ground ball was misplayed for an error, allowing pinch-runner Matt Meyer to score and make it 9-0.
In the top of the 9th, Avon got Jack Theisen on base when he was hit by a pitch, then Ryan Janzen doubled with 2 outs. Elliott Burnett capped off his big day with a 2-run single to center to make it 11-0.
The Rebels scored their only run in the bottom of the 9th on an Eli Roberts rbi single to make the final 11-1.
